Joel Loitherstein, PE
President

     Joel Loitherstein, the founder and president of Loitherstein Environmental Engineering, Inc. (LEEI), has worked in the environmental field for over 30 years. Mr. Loitherstein received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1973. Mr. Loitherstein pursued graduate studies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned his Master of Science in civil engineering in 1987 from Northeastern University.

     Mr. Loitherstein worked in sewerage system analyses from Mexico City to Niagara Falls immediately following his graduate studies. After completing his studies, he worked for several Boston area engineering firms, specializing in groundwater modeling and analysis.

     Inspired by his father, who was also a civil engineer and successful businessman with his own consulting practice, Mr. Loitherstein founded LEEI in 1992. Adhering to the successful management practices of his father’s company, Loitherstein Environmental Engineering is well known in the industry for its quality and service.


Jonathan R. O'Brien, LSP
Director of Operations
    
Jonathan O’Brien has over 17 years of experience in the environmental industry, including environmental site assessment and monitoring, subsurface assessment and remediation, aquifer analysis, complex regulatory response actions under the MCP, potable water supply treatment, UST closures and state reimbursement proceedings, GIS applications, and health and safety plan administration.

     Mr. O’Brien received a Bachelor of Arts in geology from Bates College in 1992 with departmental honors. At Bates he participated in apping and interpreting the bedrock geology of the White Mountains in New Hampshire.

     He is a former certified asbestos inspector in Massachusetts and a former conservation commissioner in the town of Holliston,
Massachusetts.


Dave

Dave L. Bramley, PE, LSP, LEP
Project Manager
     David L. Bramley is a senior project manager with over 35 years of experience in the environmental field.  Mr. Bramley is experienced in site assessment and remediation having served as the project manager for the investigation, remedial design, construction, and operation of a soil and groundwater treatment system at a Superfund site.  He also has performed RCRA assessments, conducted multi-media compliance assessments, prepared environmental permitting documentation, prepared facility compliance plans, conducted environmental risk assessment.  In addition, Mr. Bramley has extensive design and permitting experience for wastewater collection and treatment systems and commercial and residential land development.

     Mr. Bramley received an M.B.A. with high distinction from Babson College in 1981.  He also received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Environmental Engineering) from Tufts University in 1969.


Derek

Derek S. McClellan
Project Manager
     Derek McClellan has over 15 years of experience in the environmental field. He performs ASTM and MCP site assessments and regulatory compliance services at LEEI. In addition to performing field engineering and waste management services for the Massachusetts Port Authority, Boston University, and on the Central Artery/Harbor Tunnel project, Mr. McClellan has conducted numerous CERCLA site inspections for the U.S. EPA.

     Mr. McClellan, a former certified asbestos inspector, is also experienced with environmental assessment tasks, including health and safety plan preparation, air sampling, monitoring well drilling, passive and active soil gas surveys, soil and groundwater sampling, and remediation oversight.

     Mr. McClellan received a Bachelor of Science in geoscience from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York in 1994.


James J. Deangelis
Project Scientist
     James J. DeAngelis has over 12 years of experience in the environmental field.  At Loitherstein Environmental Engineering he performs field work and ASTM site assessments.  His experience includes health and safety plan preparation, air sampling, monitoring well drilling, passive and active soil gas surveys, soil and groundwater sampling, remediation system maintenance and remediation oversight, performing soil, groundwater, and wastewater sampling, well installation monitoring, soil headspace screening, air sampling, flow monitoring, and waste disposal characterization.  In addition, Mr. DeAngelis has training and experience with EPA-protocol low-flow groundwater monitoring techniques.

   
Mr. DeAngelis is working on a Bachelor of Science in earth and geographic science from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.

Christine M. Ferretti

Office Manager
     Christine M. Ferretti has 22 years of administrative and office management experience. She is proficient in numerous computer applications and office systems and is integral to the quality control, budget oversight, and the successful completion of the work product for every project at Loitherstein Environmental Engineering. She is responsible for maintaining project, client, and government databases, as well as assisting in the marketing for LEEI. Ms. Ferretti also handles the Underground Storage Tank Petroleum Product Cleanup Fund 21J reimbursement process for LEEI’s clients.Prior to joining LEEI, Ms. Ferretti administered multi-million dollar contracts and expense payables for a national retail corporation and assisted in the development and implementation of a corporate-wide customer service database.

     Ms. Ferretti has completed business administration and managerial coursework.
